Residential Clearing

Restoring balance to the homes and land where people live.

A home holds more than what happened inside it. Over the years a space can carry the residue of what it has held — loss, illness, conflict, a long or difficult transition. Sometimes that weight settles and stays, and the people living there feel it long after the event that caused it has passed.

Not everything present in a home is a problem. Some presences belong. The work is knowing the difference — clearing what no longer serves the people living there, and leaving what does.

When people reach out

Most people find their way here after something has shifted. You may notice:

  • A home that feels heavy or unsettled, without a clear reason.

  • Sleep or ease that has been disturbed since a move, a loss, or an illness.

  • A newly bought home that seems to carry its previous chapter.

  • Tension in the household that quiets the moment everyone leaves the house.

  • Land or property with a long or complicated history.

You don’t need to explain it well. If a space feels off, that is enough to begin a conversation.

What is actually there

Scott doesn’t treat every disturbance as the same thing. Over decades of this work he has learned to distinguish what is actually present, rather than lumping it all together as a haunting:

  • A person who has died and not fully moved on, still attached to the place.

  • An attachment that moves through a family line, drawn to the most sensitive person in it.

  • The energies of land and of nature — which are not human, and are not always unwelcome.

  • Occasionally, a presence that does not belong to this place at all.

Naming what is there is most of the work. The clearing follows from it.

This is shamanic clearing work, drawn from more than twenty years of practice.

How the work is done

Most of this work is done remotely, and most homes need only a few hours. When a space calls for it, Scott works on-site.

The people living in the home stay. Scott isn’t asking anyone to leave their house — he is restoring the house around the people in it. A typical engagement moves from listening and assessment, to clearing what no longer belongs, to settling and blessing the space, to a little grounded guidance for living well in it afterward.

Every home is different. The depth of the work reflects the history and condition of the space — not a fixed menu.

What People Have Experienced

“In the summer of 2013, I was tired. I felt underwater in a Colorado house and wanted to start fresh in my new home in Oregon. My money was tied up in a property I was no longer living in, and I felt blocked.

Caretakers who had originally planned to stay in the Colorado house for only a few months had remained for four years. I owed so much on the home that receiving an offer I could afford to accept seemed highly unlikely. Bankruptcy was an option, but one I was reluctant to pursue.

At the time, I was doing grief and energetic work with Scott remotely, online and by phone. I shared with him how tied I still felt to the old property while wanting to move forward with my life in Oregon. Years before I bought the Colorado house, a man had taken his own life there. I had also lost my brother to suicide, and the weight of my grief was heavy.

Scott created a ceremony that included me, the home where I was living in Oregon, and the house in Colorado. I sat with the phone on speaker, tears streaming down my face, as Scott drummed and sang. I could feel a sense of lightness forming. Part of me even thought, ‘This sounds so wild. How would I ever explain this to someone?’

A week later, an offer came in on the Colorado house — $40,000 above the asking price. The buyer’s best friend lived next door. The following day, the caretakers called to say they were ready to move. Quietly and quickly, the sale was completed.

For me, the experience marked a profound sense of release — emotionally, energetically, and practically — and allowed me to move forward into the life I had been trying to begin.”

Begin with a conversation

“Several years ago, after moving into an older home, I began having extremely violent, vivid nightmares with a similar theme every night.

After a couple of phone sessions, Scott and I determined that the dreams seemed to be related to my new home. We scheduled a time for Scott to do a clearing remotely, since I lived in a different city.

During the clearing, it became evident to us that there was an energy connected with a past tenant that seemed to be stuck in the home. Scott guided me through a series of actions to release the energy from the house and gave me suggestions for what I could do if I ever began to feel its presence again.

I can only describe the change as miraculous. The house felt completely different, and I never had the dreams again.

Coincidentally, the very day we did the clearing, I hosted a dinner party attended by four former tenants of the house. I had not told anyone about the clearing, yet everyone kept commenting on how different the house felt.

I lived in that home for five years. Many loved ones passed through during that time, and all agreed that it was one of the warmest, most inviting and safest spaces we had ever been in.”

His impact has been profound… making my home a place that energetically sustains me.”
