Personal Sessions
Ongoing individual work with Scott Tate, LPC
Scott works with individuals in an ongoing way — not as a single appointment, but as a relationship that develops over time. The work draws on depth psychology, shamanism, somatic practice, and ancestral and generational methods, and it meets each person wherever they actually are.
Some people come in the middle of something difficult — a loss, a long-held pattern, a season of change that has not resolved. Others come because they sense something deeper underneath what they have already tried. The reasons vary. What stays consistent is the work itself.
What the Work Addresses
The sessions are grounded in transpersonal psychology, with a strong Jungian orientation. That tradition has always understood the psyche as having spiritual depth — not just cognitive content. It means the work can go where a purely talk-based approach often cannot.
In practice, that looks different for each person. A session might move through grief that has been carried for years. It might address patterns that came down through a family line — loyalties, burdens, or unfinished movements passed from one generation to the next. It might involve somatic work, where something held in the body needs attention that conversation alone will not reach.
"Open up the positive ancestral influences and energetic influences that really assist people in coming into their true being … their own wholeness, their own individuation experience."— Scott Tate
The aim is not to fix a symptom. There is an unfolding process already in motion inside each person — toward wholeness, toward individuation — and the work is to help a person find and stay with that process rather than have it imposed from outside.
"There's an unfolding process within us, if we tap into it, that will lead us to wholeness."
— Scott Tate
Generational and Ancestral Work
Some of what a person carries did not begin with them. Patterns of grief, anxiety, stuckness, or relational difficulty sometimes trace back through a family line — not as metaphor, but as an actual condition that can be addressed directly.
Scott's approach to ancestral work draws from multiple traditions — family constellations, African and Siberian lineages, and his own initiatory experience. The work acknowledges ancestors not as abstractions but as relational presences whose unfinished business can continue to shape the living.
When generational material is addressed directly, people often experience a shift — not because something was done to them, but because something long carried was finally seen and met.
The Methods
The techniques Scott uses are among the most thoroughly researched practices in the field. EMDR, depth-psychological process work, qigong, drumming — these are not improvised. They have an evidence base. What distinguishes the work is not the techniques themselves, but the willingness to apply them across the full range of what shows up in a person's life.
"Most of the techniques I use are some of the most researched techniques of all psychological things … that have very good results. And that's even true for drumming — there's research about drumming and the impacts of that."
— Scott Tate
How Sessions Work
Scott practices out of Fort Collins, Colorado, and also works with people remotely. Sessions are ongoing — most people work with Scott over a period of months or longer. The pace and depth are set by what is actually present, not by a predetermined protocol.
A brief initial conversation is always free. That conversation is where Scott listens to what is happening and whether this work is a fit.
What People Have Experienced
More than 25 years later, I can look back on my work with Scott and recognize just how important those sessions were in my life.
When I first began working with him, I had spent years moving from one traumatic relationship into another. I carried experiences, memories, emotions, and patterns that reached back into childhood, and at the time I did not yet have the clarity to understand how deeply they were shaping my choices and my life.
Working with Scott took me into some of the deepest and most difficult places within myself. What I remember most is the way he accompanied me through that work. He did not rush the process, impose meaning, or try to take the experience away from me. He listened, guided, helped me remain present, and seemed to know when to offer direction and when simply to stay beside me while something unfolded.
There were sessions that were emotionally difficult, but I never felt abandoned in the process. Scott brought steadiness, compassion, insight, and a deep spiritual understanding that helped me face what I had carried for so long and begin to see myself and my life differently.
The change did not happen all at once. Over time, I began taking one step after another toward greater clarity, healthier choices, trust in myself, and a deeper connection to my own spirit.
Looking back now, I see a life that is profoundly different. I have clarity, vision, and an inner peace I could not have imagined then. That healing journey also became part of the foundation for my own path as a healer and practitioner.
Scott was a guide, healer, and trusted presence during a pivotal period of my life. More than two decades later, I remain deeply grateful for the work we did together and for the part it played in helping me become the woman and practitioner I am today.

“After years of feeling unsafe, I started to feel at home in my own space again.
I didn’t know what to expect, but after nearly a decade of chronic illness, I knew I needed extra support that went deep. My house had never been a haven — it had been neglected, and at times I feared losing it. For a substantial part of that decade, I didn’t allow anyone in because I felt unsafe in my own home.
What I wanted was a harmonious relationship with my home: a safe place where I could heal and thrive. I met with Scott twice, and soon after our first session, the change I wanted started to show up in my day-to-day experience. The clearing felt as much for me as for my home — an intentional reset that helped me feel grounded again.
After years of neglect, I began attending to my space as an extension of myself, moving from stagnation into purging what no longer served me and reorganizing what was left. Small, overdue yet targeted updates made a big difference. The impact went beyond the updates themselves — after years of feeling unsafe, I started to feel at home in my own space again. It felt good to be here.
What was most unexpected was how my home actually felt restored — brighter, calmer, and more welcoming in an enduring way. Ultimately, my relationship with my home became supportive and beneficial. I now feel open and at ease inviting guests in.
I’m sincerely grateful for Scott’s work — and for what changed in my home and in me. I highly recommend him to anyone considering his services, particularly if you’re looking for a shift in how your space feels and functions.”
