Common Questions
About the work
What is this work, in plain terms?
Scott works with the residue that people, events, and hardship leave behind in a space or in a person. The understanding behind it is straightforward: the energy in and around us takes on the character of what it has been through, and it can stay that way long after the situation itself has passed. The work is intended to help clear that residue and support a return to greater flow and balance.
How does it actually work?
Every setting is different, so Scott assesses first and then does the direct work the situation calls for, on-site or remotely as appropriate. He doesn’t perform around it or dress it up. In his own terms, it’s a small number of things done well, applied to whatever is in front of him.
Is this based on a particular tradition?
Scott draws on shamanism and on many established healing and spiritual traditions — including the energetic traditions of qigong — alongside more than thirty years as a licensed professional counselor. He has his own training and lineages and doesn’t ask anyone to take them on.
Getting started
How do I begin?
Every engagement begins with a consultation — where Scott learns the situation, assesses what’s appropriate, and you decide together whether and how to proceed. Contact Scott to arrange one.
What happens in a consultation?
You describe what’s going on. Scott listens, asks what he needs to, and tells you plainly whether this is work he can help with and what it would involve. There’s no pressure to continue.
Do you work remotely, or only in person?
Both. Some work is done on-site; a good deal can be done remotely. Which one fits depends on the situation, and it’s settled at the consultation stage.
What does it cost?
Fees depend on the scope of the work, the setting, and whether it’s remote or on-site. A full rate schedule is available to download.
Homes and properties
My house feels heavy or unsettled — can this help?
Usually, yes. Homes hold the residue of what has happened in them — grief, conflict, illness, a difficult previous occupant, sometimes something with no obvious source. A clearing addresses what the house is holding so it feels like yours again. More on the Residential page.
I’m listing a property that isn’t moving. Is that something you do?
Yes. A property can carry a history that people feel the moment they walk in, even when they can’t name it, and it can affect how the place shows and sells. Scott works with agents and owners on exactly that. More on the Real Estate page.
Do I need to be present for a clearing?
Not always. Depending on the situation, the work can be done whether or not you’re there. This is one of the things settled at the consultation.
Businesses and institutions
Can this be done in a workplace or institution?
Yes — offices, care settings, medical and hospital environments, and businesses in transition. More on the Commercial & Institutional page.
We have an event or conference coming up. Can a space be prepared beforehand?
Yes. Settling a space before a significant gathering is a common request, so the room is right before people arrive.
Personal and ceremonial work
Is this the same as therapy?
No — and Scott is careful about that line. He is a licensed professional counselor, and his personal-session work draws on that depth. It can stand alone or be complementary with other interventions. More on the Personal Sessions page.
Do you do ceremonial work?
Yes. Scott’s ceremonial work has its own place on the site — see the Ceremonial overview.
Boundaries and credentials
Is any of this dangerous?
No. The work is careful and situational, with clear boundaries throughout.
Are you licensed? What are your credentials?
Scott is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has practiced professionally for more than thirty years, including in medical, hospital, and institutional settings. There is no formal licensing body for shamanic work; his grounding there comes from his own training and long practice.
Is what I tell you confidential?
Yes. Discretion and confidentiality hold throughout, in every setting.
Are sessions available virtually?
Yes. Much of Scott’s individual work is now conducted virtually, allowing people to meet with him from wherever they are located. Sessions are typically held through Zoom.
Some forms of work — including property clearings, ceremonies, and certain commercial or institutional engagements — may take place on site when appropriate.
Do I need to share Scott’s spiritual beliefs to work with him?
No. Scott works with people from a wide range of backgrounds, beliefs, and spiritual perspectives.
His approach includes psychological, somatic, spiritual, and shamanic traditions, but there is no expectation that a client adopt Scott’s beliefs or interpret an experience in a particular way.
What matters is openness, mutual respect, and a willingness to explore what is meaningful and useful within your own experience.
